In what often sounded like a stump speech, Sarah Palin tailored a searing critique of big government to an audience in California’s Central Valley on Sunday, telling supporters the region’s woes could be blamed on politicians picking "a 3-inch fish" over jobs.
Student protesters, expected to picket the event, were nowhere to be seen outside the college’s just-finished arena. A photographer was detained by campus security afterward apparently because he had recorded more than the three-minute maximum allowed for Palin’s speech and refused to delete his footage.
